California Urban Water Conservation Council is Now The California Water Efficiency Partnership

Wednesday, March 08, 2017
We are pleased to announce that the California Urban Water Conservation Council is now the California Water Efficiency Partnership.

The new name communicates a vision for an innovative organization that provides leadership on water efficiency issues in California, and also conveys the spirit of inclusion and collaboration among a wide variety of stakeholders envisioned by the Board and members.

California Water Efficiency Partnership was selected after a comprehensive process that included members submitting more than 50 name suggestions for consideration by the Board, research with water industry stakeholders, and a survey of members for their preferred name.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the name selection process. We look forward to working with you as we continue this organizational transformation. Next up: the development of a new logo.

Results of Member Vote on Council Proposal for Organizational Evolution

Friday, January 06, 2017
The Board's recommendation to refocus and restructure the California Urban Water Conservation Council has passed by written vote of the members. Voting ended December 30, 2016. The changes will take place through a combination of bylaws amendments, financial arrangements and other transition matters.

Ballots were returned by 80 Group 1 members with only one no vote. Six Group 2 members returned ballots, all in favor of the proposal. Therefore, the proposal passed. This approval of the proposed changes sunsets the Council on December 31, 2016 as we have known it and lays the groundwork for creating a refocused and restructured organization beginning in 2017. The transition period is now underway per the Transition Plan outlined by the Board. Additional details and updates will be forthcoming. Complete information on the vote and the Transition Plan, along with a list of FAQs, can be found here.

If you have any questions regarding the vote or this transition, please contact Sarah Foley, Interim Executive Director at sarah@cuwcc.org.

Upcoming Member Vote on Council Changes

Monday, November 28, 2016

At its November 16, 2016, meeting, the Council Board approved a package of agreements that will allow the Council to substantially restructure and re-focus itself. The three main elements of the package are: a set of bylaws amendments; a financial settlement; and a transition plan.

The Board authorized a member vote on the package by written ballot.

The ballot as well as a full package of explanatory materials will be sent to members on Wednesday, November 30. The voting period will extend to the end of December.

In the meantime, save the date for two important events:
